以下の動画は、私の40Mキャスト（ラインはSA社 Expert Distance 5番）です。キャスティング・ストロークを説明するために敢えてキャスティング・モーションが大きい画像を載せました。このビデオのキャストをそのままイラストに置き直したのがこの分解図です。

FFI (Fly Fishing International)によると、キャスティング・ストロークの定義とは、「ループを形成できるだけの、ロッドバット部のローテーション(回転運動)、及びトランスレーション(並進移動)による一連の動き」となっています。一方、キャスティング・ストロークに属さない動きは、ポーズ中の動き、この絵の中ではドラグとドリフト、と言うことになります。でも、そう言われてもわからない！が殆どの方だと思います。ちょっと難しくなってしまいますが、これらは、キャスティング・インストラクターならしっかり押さえておかなくてはならないポイントなんです。

According to FFI (Fly Fishing International), the definition of a casting stroke is “Rotation and/or Translation of the rod butt sufficient to cause Loop formation.” On the other hand, movements that do not belong to the casting stroke include actions taken during the pause, such as Drag and Drift in this diagram.
However, for most people, this explanation might not be very clear! It may seem a bit complicated, but these are essential points that casting instructors must fully understand.
